The Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines (ULAP) has partnered with Takeda Healthcare Philippines, a subsidiary of Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited, to enhance local government efforts in combating dengue through the Empowering Communities for a Dengue-Ready Philippines Project (Project E-CODE). The agreement was formalized during ULAP’s 107th National Executive Board Meeting on January 31, 2025, at the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel in Mandaluyong City.
Project E-CODE aims to reduce dengue cases through public education, capacity building, and expanded vaccination programs in high-risk areas. With thousands of dengue cases reported annually in the Philippines — including a recent outbreak in Quezon City — local governments are intensifying their response. The initiative will be implemented in key urban centers such as Pasig, Quezon City, Cebu, Davao, and Iloilo, as well as several provinces with high dengue incidence.
The project will focus on training healthcare professionals, Barangay Health Workers, and community leaders to improve early detection and response efforts. It will also support public awareness campaigns and preventive healthcare solutions in coordination with local government units.
This partnership reinforces ULAP’s commitment to equipping LGUs with the tools and resources needed to address dengue more effectively and improve community health outcomes across the country.
