Gorilla Technology Group, a British business solutions provider, has secured a 1.8 billion USD agreement to lead an energy digitization and smart grid project in Thailand. This 15-year, AI-driven initiative, described as the country’s largest of its kind, aims to transform Thailand’s electricity ecosystem by modernizing power distribution, enhancing security, and optimizing energy efficiency across the nation.
Unlike traditional infrastructure projects, this program is structured using an innovative financing model designed to ensure long-term funding, facilitating large-scale implementation while generating lasting financial benefits for all parties involved. The project will incorporate advanced technology, automation, and AI-powered intelligence to create a more resilient and efficient energy system, with groundwork set to begin this year and a gradual expansion thereafter.
Key features of the initiative include AI-driven smart grid intelligence with Gorilla’s AI grid management and predictive analytics, aimed at optimizing energy flow, reducing inefficiencies, and improving response times. The project also plans to implement enterprise-grade cybersecurity using AI-based protocols for real-time threat monitoring, encrypted communication, and proactive anomaly detection.
The funding will be spread over a 15-year period, with a performance-linked financial model that aligns revenue generation with efficiency gains and long-term grid optimization. As the program progresses, revenues are expected to increase, particularly from 2026-2027, as the infrastructure and smart grid technologies reach full operational capacity. Over its lifecycle, the project is anticipated to generate multi-billion-dollar cumulative revenue.
