Thailand has introduced a smart farming platform, “HandySense B-Farm,” which integrates artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and smart sensors to enhance farm management and operational efficiency. Developed by the National Electronics and Computer Technology Centre (NECTEC), this initiative aligns with the digital agriculture promotion policy under the National Science and Technology Development Agency.
The platform aims to support farmers in adopting digital technologies to improve productivity, optimize resource use, and promote sustainable agricultural practices. By integrating advanced technologies, it is expected to reduce production costs and strengthen Thailand’s agricultural competitiveness in the global market.
According to NECTEC Deputy Director Panita Pongpaibool, the initiative represents a collaborative effort to assist Thai farmers in adapting to digital transformation effectively. The platform incorporates expertise in various technological fields, including embedded systems, machine vision, photonics, and phonotypes.
These innovations contribute to improving production efficiency, enhancing precision in farming processes, and minimizing waste. Additionally, the platform seeks to improve farmers’ livelihoods by enabling them to generate higher incomes through the cultivation of high-value crops and medicinal plants.
