Swedish thin-film solar panel manufacturer Midsummer has entered into a collaboration with Eco On, a leading Thai company specializing in solar rooftop and solar carport installations. This partnership follows Midsummer’s recent announcement of plans to explore the establishment of a 200 MW production facility in Thailand in cooperation with a consortium.
As part of these preparations, Midsummer has signed a distribution agreement with Eco On, which will be responsible for distributing and installing its lightweight and flexible solar panels across Thailand. Formerly known as Gold Stone Energy Thailand, Eco On has extensive experience in providing solar energy solutions, including rooftop installations, ground-mounted systems, and solar carports. The company works with major energy corporations and industrial groups, contributing to the expansion of renewable energy in Thailand.
Midsummer’s solar panels, particularly the BOLD model, are designed for low load-bearing flat roofs, addressing structural challenges that prevent the installation of traditional silicon-based panels. Weighing only 3 kg/m², these panels are well-suited for commercial and industrial buildings with structural limitations. There is also growing interest in their potential use in offshore floating solar projects, which are expanding in Southeast Asia.
Thailand presents a promising market for Midsummer, as many buildings receive ample sunlight but have roofs that cannot support conventional solar panels. Through this collaboration with Eco On, Midsummer aims to introduce its technology to the Thai market, with the possibility of locally producing its solar panels in the future.
