Shopee has launched its Shopee International Platform (SIP) in Singapore, enabling local businesses to expand into Malaysia and Thailand without additional costs. The initiative, supported by Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG), aims to help Singaporean sellers access fast-growing digital economies in the region.
During the pilot phase, over 8,000 sellers joined SIP, leading to an eightfold increase in orders and gross merchandise value within three months. The platform streamlines regional expansion by managing international shipping, payments, and customer service. Shopee Singapore’s Director Chua Kel Jin emphasized that SIP simplifies cross-border operations, allowing businesses to focus on growth.
EnterpriseSG’s Managing Director Cindy Khoo highlighted that SIP provides an affordable way for Singaporean businesses to diversify revenue streams, tapping into Malaysia and Thailand’s growing e-commerce markets. She also noted that Shopee plans to expand SIP to the Philippines, further increasing regional opportunities for sellers.
Sellers on SIP benefit from free cross-border logistics, secure payments, and customer service support. High-performing sellers will also gain additional features, including control over product curation, pricing strategies, and promotional activities in Malaysia.
Several local businesses have already leveraged SIP for expansion. Global Pet Company extended its reach without incurring retail costs, while Candy Cottage introduced UK and European confectionery products to the Malaysian market.
