Metaverse-based EdTech platform ZEP officially entered the Indonesian education market in March 2025. Launched in South Korea in 2021, the platform has experienced rapid growth, amassing 12 million users and maintaining 1.3 million monthly active users.
In April 2024, ZEP introduced its EdTech platform, ‘ZEP QUIZ,’ leveraging its accumulated technological capabilities and expertise. The platform has received a strong reception in South Korea, renowned for its high commitment to education, and has since emerged as the leading metaverse-based EdTech platform in the country’s education sector.
‘ZEP QUIZ’ allows teachers to create educational quiz rooms—including multiple-choice, short-answer, and OX question formats—with just a few clicks for classroom use. The platform also offers AI-powered features designed to reduce lesson preparation time. Students benefit from an engaging, game-like learning environment, making the platform popular among educators and learners. To date, ‘ZEP QUIZ’ has recorded 10 million plays and attracted 1.3 million users.
ZEP’s decision to officially enter the Indonesian market was driven by strong demand within the local education sector. Before its formal launch, the platform’s Indonesian version, ‘ZEP QUIZ,’ had already attracted 20,000 monthly active users, with daily active users peaking at 50,000—demonstrating significant interest and engagement from local users.
In February 2025, ZEP organized a webinar for Indonesian educators on “Maximizing Student Learning Effectiveness in the Digital Age,” attracting participation from approximately 300 teachers and reflecting strong interest in digital learning tools.
As part of its localization efforts, the platform will offer traditional Indonesian attire for avatars and provide a school-themed map that reflects the local environment. ZEP also plans to introduce new maps and objects that showcase Indonesia’s cultural identity.
