Korea Aerospace Industries Ltd. (KAI) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Indonesian company Prima Duta Sejati to train and recruit Indonesian workers for the aerospace sector. The agreement was formalized last month during a ceremony in Jakarta, attended by government officials, diplomats, and industry leaders, including the Acting South Korean Ambassador to Indonesia, the Secretary General of Indonesia’s Migrant Worker Protection Ministry, a former Trade Minister, and KAI’s Director of International Cooperation.
The Indonesian government welcomed the initiative, emphasizing its alignment with national efforts to enhance the skills and competencies of Indonesian migrant workers. The Secretary General of the Migrant Worker Protection Ministry stated that under the agreement, skilled Indonesian workers will have the opportunity to join KAI after completing the training program. He also expressed hope that the partnership would facilitate knowledge transfer and contribute to the growth of Indonesia’s aerospace industry.
Prima Duta Sejati’s Director described the MoU as an initial step toward integrating Indonesian workers into KAI’s operations. He noted that the program would start with a limited number of participants, with potential expansion based on their performance. The training will focus on aircraft component manufacturing, with the first batch beginning in May 2025.
Additionally, KAI is exploring a collaboration with Indonesia’s state-run aerospace company, Dirgantara Indonesia, to establish a training center in the country. According to KAI’s Director of International Cooperation, the initiative aims to engage Indonesian talent and aviation infrastructure, ensuring a highly skilled workforce while addressing labor shortages among KAI’s subcontractors.
