More than 180 Singaporean companies participated in a business mission to Johor Bahru, Malaysia, to explore investment and partnership opportunities within the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ). Organized by the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) with support from UOB, Rajah & Tann, and RSM Singapore, the two-day mission from February 19-20 brought together business leaders and government officials to strengthen cross-border collaboration.
A key highlight of the mission was a conference attended by over 340 participants at Sunway Hotel Big Box in Iskandar Puteri Johor. The event featured discussions on infrastructure development, investment facilitation, and workforce mobility. Johor’s Chief Minister, Dato’ Onn Hafiz Ghazi, addressed investors, outlining plans to enhance the region’s business environment. A fireside chat and panel discussions provided insights into leveraging the JS-SEZ for regional growth.
The mission also saw UOB and Invest Johor launch a Green Lane initiative to accelerate investments. Meanwhile, Gold Peak Technology Group formally expressed interest in expanding within the JS-SEZ through a Letter of Intent presented to Johor authorities.
On February 20, participants visited key economic sites, including Nusajaya Tech Park, EduCity Iskandar Malaysia, and EcoWorld Business Park II, to assess business opportunities firsthand. The JS-SEZ, covering over 3,500 square kilometers, aims to attract global investments and generate 20,000 skilled jobs across 11 key sectors.
