Brazil has strengthened its presence in the Vietnamese market by securing approval for the export of chicken offal and resuming sales of chicken feet. The Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) welcomed this development as a major step in boosting the country’s poultry exports. This decision reinforces Brazil’s position as a global leader in chicken meat production and is expected to drive growth in the sector.
Vietnam, with a population of approximately 100 million and increasing demand for animal protein, is a key market in Asia. The country imports around 170,000 tons of chicken meat and related products annually. Brazil already holds a significant share of this trade, ranking as the seventh-largest exporter of chicken meat to Asia. In 2024, Brazilian exports to Vietnam reached 11,000 tons, a figure set to rise with this new market opening.
The demand for chicken offal and feet is particularly strong in Vietnam, where these products are widely consumed. Ricardo Santin, president of ABPA, emphasized the value of this achievement, crediting the collaboration between the Ministry of Agriculture and the private sector. He noted that Vietnam represents a high-value market for these poultry products, and the increased access should contribute significantly to Brazil’s export revenues.
This expansion enhances Brazil’s presence in Asia and creates new opportunities for the national poultry industry, further strengthening its competitiveness in the global market.
